It’s true. They were designed to be used as vessel for witches (that’s thanks to this technology they could transfer themselves into the “carriers” left by the defeated underground civilization and survive to the present days).
But because the Church betrayed Alice’s plans for the future and sought personal power under pretense of fighting the Demons, they used the God’s Punishement Warrior without a soul to drive them, drastically reducing their efficieny, while having 90% of them going insane, berserk or simply unmoving, and at the same time, killing the witches in the process by making two soldiers with their blod whereas only half was needed for one soldier and the witch would have stayed alive (and usually possess the soldier to fight).
Basically, the Church was creating Frankestein monsters, empy husks devoid of a mind, that some times times by pure luck retained enough sanity to be used as fighters.
Funnily enough, some of the unmoving ones would sometimes mysteriously get up and wander outside in the mountains at random, until the old Taqila witches captured them. And here they are. 😉
